Frequently Asked Questions

How is Chiropractic and Physiotherapy different? What is a Chiropractor and what’s your approach to the human body?

This question gets asked a lot! As a society we tend to separate the two professions… Chiropractors only work on bones, Physiotherapists only work on muscles.

Traditionally, Chiropractors are trained to have a strong focus on impacting the nervous system through chiropractic adjustments or manipulations of joints. Whereas Physios are trained to look at how they can impact the musculoskeletal system through soft tissue techniques and exercise prescription.

At Thrive, we have a mixed approach. Our goal is to ultimately help you Thrive, to help you move optimally so that you can do the things you love. A tailored, hands-on and active approach to impact your musculoskeletal and nervous systems is how we service you.

What should I expect?

At your initial consultation, we listen and get to know you so that we understand how the problem is impacting you.

We then work with you to find the root cause of the problem through a number of assessments.

Together, we then make a realistic plan of action that aligns with achieving your goals.

Then the fun begins! We begin addressing the problem using a passive and active approaches.

What should I wear to my appointment?

Wear something comfortable that can allow freedom of movement that enables us to assess and work on the problematic region. If you’re coming from work, bring a change of clothes: we have restroom facilities to allow you to change.

Am I covered by health fund and can I claim on the spot?

Yes. Our practitioners are covered by health funds which we process on the spot through HICAPS.

Do I need a referral from a GP?

As Chiropractors are primary healthcare providers, a referral is not needed. However, in WorkCover circumstances, a referral letter is required.

Do I need to do anything before my appointment?

Prior to your appointment, please fill out and sign the online new client form that we sent to you via email.

Can I see a chiropractor if I’m pregnant?

Yes. The body undergoes drastic changes during pregnancy. We like to take a proactive approach rather than a reactive approach. We not only manage the symptoms, but the cause of your pain by strengthening regions that may be under stress during this incredible journey. As your body starts to change, we will tailor the techniques accordingly to suit your needs.
